In a common image sensor, quantity of the per pixel is only 1 on the new one, there is a Quad-Bayer array. It means the new sensor provides four pixels information together and technically the output comes to a one large pixel and it downs to 12-megapixels.
Hence, the software processing is the cause to enhance the image quality. The final produced images is going to be a lot more improved in these camera sensors.
